A description. Not a name.

The term “church of Christ” is not a name, but rather a description of our congregation of believers as belonging to Jesus Christ. We attempt to call Bible things by Bible names. Though there are other terms used to describe the Lord’s church in the scriptures, our congregation chooses to use the term “church of Christ”.

Our Authority

The Bible. No more. No less.

The church of Christ is a non-denomination entity of believers that attempts to be new testament Christians, that is, to follow the Bible as closely as possible. We believe that we should strive to never add to or take away from the word of God.

Our Beliefs

We BELIEVE…that the Bible is our only creed book and we reject the concept of separate creeds or council re-ports. The following is not to establish either, but rather provide you with the reasons for what you may see or hear in our assembly. Thank you for assembling with us.

STATEMENTS OF BELIEF:

WE BELIEVE…the entire Bible is inspired by God, without error and the only authority on which we base our faith and conduct. (2Tim. 3:15-17)

WE BELIEVE…in one Godhead who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to this earth as Savior of the world. (Col. 2:8-9 & Heb. 1:1-3)

WE BELIEVE…the Lord Jesus’ affirmation that man and woman were made for each another (Mat. 19:4-5, Gen.1:27-28 & Gen. 2:18,22-24) in image of God’s lifegiving harmony (Gen. 1:26 & Eph. 5:31-32). We must forsake sexual practices other than traditional marriage (1Cor.6:9-11,17-20 & 7:1-2).

WE BELIEVE…Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for our sins. We believe Jesus rose from the dead and is coming again. (1Cor. 15:3-6 & 20-26)

WE BELIEVE…that eternal salvation is found by placing our faith in Jesus Christ, accepting him as the Lord of our lives, and being baptized. (Mark 16:16 & Heb. 6 1-2)

WE BELIEVE…that baptizing believers by water immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ as their testimony of faith and is essential for salvation. (Rom. 6:1-7)

WE BELIEVE…in taking Communion, and giving alms as prospered, every first day of the week in remembrance of our Lord’s willing sacrifice and our own expected service. (1Cor. 11:17-26 & 16:1-2)

WE BELIEVE…the purpose of our assemblies is to encourage one another in active Christian love. (Heb.10:24-25 & John 15:10-12)

WE BELIEVE…the New Covenant sanctuary is the Christians themselves (Eph. 2:20-22), not their halls (Mat. 18:20). Therefore, we value outward simplicity (Mat.23:5-12), including the ancient practice of acapella music.

WE BELIEVE…God created mankind equal, whether male or female or any race/color (Gal. 3:28), but He chose male leadership within His Church (1Tim. 3:1-13).

WE BELIEVE…every believer should be in a growing relationship with Jesus by obeying God’s Word, yielding to the Holy Spirit and by being conformed to the image of Christ. (Rom. 12:1-2 & Heb. 5:13-14)

WE BELIEVE…that, as children of God, we are overcomers and more than conquerors, and God intends for each of us to experience the abundant life He has instore for us. (Rom. 8:37 & John 10:10)
